Today's weak economy provides several compelling reasons to create and maintain a strong web presence: premises are more costly than ever, staffing and inventory are expensive, and consumers are willing to stay home and search for goods online rather than gas up the car and go shopping. These circumstances are less than optimal, but they provide fantastic opportunities to intelligently led small businesses. With a small investment in web technology, tiny specialty stores can compete with giants like Target, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart online.

New technology should breed new thinking. I believe that the best websites are the simplest ones. My job as a web designer is to make it as easy as possible for potential customers or clients to find you, contact you, and buy your products or services. These goals are accomplished with innovative thinking, efficient coding, and intuitive interfaces - not intense flash animations or glitzy graphics. When building an effective website, practicality comes first and glamor second.
